Six 6 sided dice, way to keep score

INTRODUCTION

In this very pub friendly game, players try to roll a perfect straight in three attempts or fewer.

MATERIALS

All you need is six 6 sided dice and a way to keep score.

SETUP

Each player rolls a die and whoever rolls the highest number goes first.

PLAY

Each turn, players get three attempts to roll a straight (1-2-3-4-5-6). To begin, roll all six dice. Set aside any dice that contribute to the straight. Any dice remaining are rolled for the second attempt. Place any dice that can add on to the straight aside and roll whatever remains for the third attempt.

Example:
Attempt one: 1,1,3,4,5,5, set aside 1,3,4,5 and roll remaining dice.
Attempt two: 1,2, set aside 2 and roll remaining die
Attempt three: 6, set aside the 6
After the final throw for the turn, tally up the score and pass the dice to the next player.

SCORE

Players begin the game with a score of zero, and they will either add or subtract points from their score based on the outcome of their turn.

If a player completes the straight in three rolls, their score does not change (par). Deduct 1 point for completing the straight in two rolls (birdie). Deduct 3 points for completing the straight in a single roll (hole in one).

If a player fails to complete the straight, add one point to their score for each die not part of the straight.

WIN

The player with the lowest score at the end of the 9th round wins the game.

INCREASE THE CHALLENGE
To make the game more challenging, require that the straight is rolled in sequential order. A 2 cannot be kept until a 1 is rolled, a 3 cannot be kept until a 2 is rolled and so on.

Example:
Attempt one: 1,1,3,4,5,5, set aside the 1
Attempt two: 1,2,3,5,6, set aside the 2,3
Attempt three: 1,6,6, set nothing aside

The player adds three points to their score for this round because there are three dice left.
